About this bundle

The full EMDRIA Approved "EMDR with Veterans & First Responders" 6.5 CE Series!

Course 1:
Advanced EMDR Strategies with Veterans and First Responders, Part I: Culture, Evidence, and Case Conceptualization

Presented by Jennifer DiGiandomenico, LPCC-S

This 3-hour advanced EMDR training focuses on building cultural competence and sharpening case conceptualization skills when working with military veterans and first responders. Participants will review current prevalence data for PTSD, depression, anxiety, suicidality, and related medical comorbidities in these populations, and examine how occupational culture, cumulative trauma, and moral injury shape symptom presentation and treatment engagement.

The training integrates the latest VA/DoD PTSD treatment guidelines and contemporary EMDR research, with specific attention to where the evidence is strong, where it is mixed, and where gaps remain. Using an EMDR-informed framework, clinicians will learn to map military and first responder histories into clear past–present–future target plans and begin to differentiate when standard 8-phase EMDR is sufficient and when additional adaptations or formats may be indicated.

Course 2:
Advanced EMDR Strategies with Veterans and First Responders Part II: Protocol Adaptations, Moral Injury, and Applied Practice

Presented by Jennifer DiGiandomenico, LPCC-S

This 3.5-hour advanced EMDR training builds on foundational knowledge of military and first responder populations and focuses on translating that understanding into concrete, session-level practice. Participants will work through complex case vignettes involving combat trauma, cumulative line-of-duty exposure, moral injury, dissociation, and high arousal states, with an emphasis on building nuanced EMDR treatment plans and target hierarchies.

The course will address clinical decision-making around the use of standard individual EMDR, intensive formats, and early/brief intervention protocols (e.g., R-TEP, G-TEP) within the limits of current evidence. Strategies for working with moral injury themes, parts/ego states, and somatic dysregulation will be highlighted, alongside discussion of clinician factors, vicarious trauma, and system-level barriers in military and first responder settings.

What You Will Learn

By the end of the full training series, you will be able to:

[1] Describe key cultural, organizational, and occupational factors that differentiate veterans and first responders from civilian clients and explain how these factors impact EMDR assessment, alliance, and treatment planning.
[1] Summarize current evidence and guideline recommendations for EMDR with veterans and first responders, including recognized strengths, limitations, and research gaps relative to civilian PTSD populations.
[1] Develop an EMDR case conceptualization and preliminary target plan for at least one veteran and one first responder vignette, incorporating cultural context, trauma history, moral injury themes, and current triggers into a coherent past–present–future sequence.
[2] Formulate advanced EMDR treatment plans for veterans and first responders that prioritize targets across developmental trauma, service-related events, moral injury, and current triggers, while anticipating likely obstacles such as dissociation, rage, or shutdown.
[2] Differentiate when to use standard 8-phase individual EMDR versus intensive or early intervention/group-based protocols (e.g., R-TEP, G-TEP) with veterans and first responders, based on case presentation, timing, setting, and available evidence.
[2] Apply at least two advanced EMDR strategies (e.g., moral injury-focused sequences, titration and set modulation, parts/ego-state-informed preparation, somatic anchoring) within case vignettes involving high-risk, high-exposure military and first responder clients.
