The full "Understanding Suicide" 6.0 CE Law & Ethics Series!
In California, and many other jurisdictions*, psychologists and master level clinicians must complete a minimum of 6 hours of coursework or applied experience in suicide risk assessment and intervention. Taking both parts 1 and 2 of Dr. Devorah Silveria’s Understanding Suicide Series fulfills this 6 hour CE requirement.

Course 1:
Understanding Suicide I: Major Theories, Warning Signs, and Assessments
Suicide remains a leading cause of preventable death worldwide...
...making timely assessment and effective intervention essential skills vital for all mental health professionals, first responders, and support personnel. This training provides participants with knowledge of the history behind suicide intervention, the myths, warning signs and various leading theories of suicide.
Emphasis is placed on recognizing warning signs, understanding risk and protective factors, conducting sensitive and structured suicide inquiries. The training provides participants with and a comprehensive framework for identifying individuals at risk for suicide, and conducting evidence-based risk assessments.
Course 2:
Understanding Suicide II: Evidence Based Practices for Intervention, Risk Management, Cultural Competence, Resources and Strategies to Prevent Vicarious Trauma
This training provides participants with evidence-based immediate and long-term intervention strategies to prevent suicide. Emphasis is placed on applying evidence based intervention models such as the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS), Safety Planning Interventions (SPI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and CBT-SP (Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention) for assessment and treatment.
Gain the confidence you need to respond in crisis situations.
Participants will build confidence and competence needed to respond appropriately in crisis situations, reduce risk, and facilitate connection to ongoing care. Legal and ethical considerations, cultural competence, resources, and strategies for clinician self-care will also be discussed. This training prepares professionals to engage in compassionate, effective, and life-saving suicide prevention work.
*Licensees outside of California should check with their respective licensing boards’ CE requirements with regarding this specialized CE requirement.
