About this bundle
The full EMDRIA Approved"Treating Couples with EMDR" 6.0 CE Series!
Course 1:
Treating Couples with EMDR Part I: Foundations of EMDR with Couples
This introductory workshop provides clinicians with the foundational knowledge necessary to integrate EMDR therapy into couples counseling. Participants will explore how trauma impacts both the brain and intimate relationships, review the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, and consider specific contraindications and precautions when applying EMDR in the couples’ context.
Special emphasis will be placed on conducting thorough history-taking interviews with couples, including both dyadic and individual perspectives, to create a clinically sound foundation for treatment. Participants will also be introduced to resourcing strategies tailored to couples—such as dyadic resourcing and shared safe place imagery—that support regulation and co-regulation during the therapeutic process.
This session is designed to prepare clinicians for more advanced application of EMDR with couples, helping them build confidence and skill in supporting both partners in their healing journey.
Course 2:
Treating Couples with EMDR Part II: Applying the 8 Phases of EMDR with Couples
This advanced workshop builds on Part 1 by guiding clinicians through the application of the eight phases of EMDR therapy in the context of couples counseling. Participants will learn how to adapt phase-by-phase interventions for relational dynamics, including identifying appropriate relational trauma targets and addressing blocking beliefs that may arise in session. Special attention will be given to managing dysregulation when both partners are present, pacing sessions effectively, and creating treatment plans that balance both individual and dyadic healing goals.
The workshop will also highlight strategies for post-EMDR follow-up that promote integration, repair, and ongoing relational growth. Case examples and interactive discussion will provide opportunities to translate theory into practice, ensuring that participants leave with practical tools they can bring directly into their clinical work with couples.
